Studying abroad for the first time was an extremely nervous, yet exciting experience that I will never forget.  As soon as I entered my terminal and saw my friends, I knew that this study abroad experience would be truly special. During the plane rides, I kept thinking about how all of the Spanish classes that I had taken and all of the times that I had practiced speaking in Spanish have finally come to this.  But in the end, it was simply incredible to have the opportunity to become fully immersed in a different culture and to be able to navigate through the city of Puebla using the Spanish speaking skills that I had previously acquired. Hi!  My name is Saurabh Wagle and I'm currently majoring in Biomedical Engineering and Pre Med at the University of Arkansas.  This summer, I will spend six weeks studying Health Care in Puebla, Mexico! I am extremely excited because ever since high school, I have studied and thoroughly enjoyed what the Spanish language has to offer. So much so that I've even decided to minor in it alongside my medical studies. Hearing about this program from my Spanish teacher,  I knew that this would be the perfect opportunity for me to become fully immersed in the language and culture of Mexico while also giving me the chance to pursue my passion in medicine by taking classes in Spanish medical terminology and shadowing at local hospitals.  I will also be living with a host family, which will help me to improve my Spanish speaking skills in an authentic environment. Stay tuned for more blog posts coming your way! ¡Hasta pronto!
